THE KAIZEN REPORT
These attributes are true for a basketball team trying to reach the Final Four as well as your organization. What is true and what is false in your life? We all know people who refuse to see a doctor until their bodies shut down and the pain becomes unbearable. I did that a few years ago and ended up with walking pneumonia. I had a cough that went for many days, but did not do anything about it until I couldn’t function normally. I ended up missing more work days than I would have otherwise if I had taken care of the problem when if first occurred. It’s also true that many people practice the religion they were raised in and never question if it’s correct or not. Isn’t it worth the effort to study the claims to see if they are true rather than just depending on someone else’s opinion? You must have a faith that will stand up through the tough times or you really have no faith at all. That’s one of the good things about tough times; it causes you to decide what is really important and what is true.
Have you questioned why you do the things in your business? Do your daily activities help you or your organization reach long term goals? The really successful organizations (any team, business, church, family, etc.) are the one where each individual internalizes the values of the organization and each member is looking for the truth to what can be done better. In team sports there are three types of players, and you can’t win with two of them. One is the player who won’t do what the coach asks and the other is the one who will do only what the coach asks. The winner will do what is required of him, plus more. The winning employee is the one that takes ownership of his quality of work regardless of the presence of the boss or not.
It’s hard for all of us to change ourselves because we are all naturally think we are doing things right. But sometimes it’s necessary to face the truth and make the change. We don’t think anything about replacing a part on a machine because we are not emotionally involved with the machine. Face the truth and do what you know you should for yourself and your organization.
If the way your marketing materials, forms or advertising specialty items are produced needs to change, I would love to talk with you. You can find more information about DSI at www.gregeubanks.com. There may be some area we can help.
